About the Awards

Australian Child Care Week is a great opportunity to celebrate and promote the invaluable contribution we all make to the children, families and people of our local communities.

The success of Australian Child Care Week will be the result of centres becoming involved with activities that highlight the seven quality areas of the National Quality Standards. Some initial ideas and suggestions are provided within this guide to get you started, but of course, you are encouraged to develop programs that most suit your particular centre. Be creative and take this opportunity to really make it work for your children, the families and the local community of which you are a part. You may also wish to adapt some of your regular early learning activities so as to emphasise more strongly the Australian Child Care Week themes.

It may prove beneficial to brainstorm ideas amongst your team, keeping in mind that your aim is to create a series of activities that will showcase the quality of your services. The activities should demonstrate, to the families and the local community, the invaluable benefit the children receive from being at your centre.

There will, of course, be a general publicity and media exposure campaign throughout the program, and so that your centre's activities can be included in these media releases, it is important for you to notify us of your planned participation in Australian Child Care Week. To do this, please send us the completed registration form located within this guide. In this way, we can also keep you up-to-date with activities and events from around Australia.

Read through the creative ideas themes within this guide.

Come together as a team, to make a plan of activities to suit the Australian Child Care Week program. This could also include your regular early learning activities that suit the themes.
